DHAKA: Maulana Nurul Alam Ishaqir, principal of Jamia Mahmudia Meradia, remarked that only online media can spot out the difference between the concept of Islam and militancy among the mass.
He came up with the assertion while speaking at a seminar titling ‘Exercising ideology of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Digital Media’ at East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL) conference room in city’s Bashundhara Residential Area on Saturday morning.
‘Islam’ department of Banglanews24.com organized the seminar.
Nurul Alam said it is easier to deceive people nowadays through online media than print media.
He further said, “Some media are introducing Islam as a religion that encourages terrorism; some persons’ writings are also making people confused in this regard. But Islam is a religion of peace where there is no place for terrorism”.
Professor Dr Mohammad Golam Rabbani of Department of Urdu of Dhaka University (DU) said, “Many of our boys and girls have quitted practicing Islam while studying in school and college levels”.
“It can be found out that flawed writings available on internet or someone’s ideology influences them to do so,” he added.
He also suggested them, who do not know or know a little about Islam or whose believe in Islam is weaker, not to browse those websites.
The attendees included South Bengal Kawmi Education Board president Mufti Ruhul Amin, Jamiyatul Ulumil Islamia Mohammadpur Maulana Mohammad Jainul Abidin, Islami Patrika Parisad president and monthly Adarsha Nari editor Mufti Abul Hasan Shamsbadi, Malaysian International Shariya Research Academy (ISRA) Mufti Yusuf Sultan and many other Islamic scholars.
Islam department editor Mufti Enayetullah anchored the seminar where banglanews consultant editor Jewel Mazhar and Head of News Mahmood Menon were also present.
