BB urges IGP to ensure banks security

DHAKA: The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has urged the police administration to ensure security of the commercial banks working across the country during the prevailing political unrest and violence.

The central bank (BB) made the plea in a letter sent to Inspector General of Police (IGP) by BB Deputy General Manager of banking regulation and policy department Anwarul Islam.

A competent source from the central bank confirmed the matter to banglanews.

In the letter, he said the banks are being come under attacks, including vandalism and arson, during the ongoing anarchies, which are very risky for the security of the banks.

Following the situation, the IGP was requested to beef up the security measures for banks across the country.
