SIRAJGANJ: Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas MP Saturday alleged that a pilot project has benefited the well-off ones instead of the poor and those who need the support most.

He raised the allegation at a programme of the pilot project that has been designed to distribute poultry and other poultry-related materials in his home district.

Under the pilot project, poultry, poultry feed and vaccines were distributed among the farm owners whose businesses were affected by Avian Influenza epidemic in different upazilas of the district.

The minister opined that the beneficiaries of the project were not selected properly while well-off farm owners made the most out of the government handouts.

Deputy Commissioner of the district Md. Aminul Islam chaired the function, attended, among others, by deputy-director of Animal Resources Department of Rajshahi Division Dr Ibrahim Hossein, Sadar upazila chairman Abu Mohammad Golam Kibria and upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Hossein.
