Jewellers have raised the price of gold by Tk1, 574 to Tk1, 43,525 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the international market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Wednesday (Oct 30).
The price of 22-carat gold is now BDT 143,525 per bhori, an increase of BDT 1,574, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 21-carat gold has risen by BDT 1,504 to BDT 137,005 per bhori.
Additionally, 18-carat gold now costs BDT 117,433 per bhori, up by BDT 1,295, while traditional gold has risen by BDT 1,096 to a new price of BDT 96,519 per bhori.
The new tariffs will come into effect on Thursday, the release added.
Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is BDT 2,100 per bhori, while 21-carat silver costs BDT 2,006 per bhori. For 18-carat silver, the rate is BDT 1,715 per bhori, and for traditional silver, BDT 1,283 per bhori.
