Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur has taken charge as the Chairperson of the SAARCFINANCE Network.
He will hold this position for the next one year.
His appointment was confirmed at the 46th SAARCFINANCE Governors' Group Meeting held in Washington, D.C., on October 24.
Mansur succeeds the Central Bank of Sri Lanka as the previous Chair of the SAARCFINANCE Network.
The Bangladesh Bank's Department of Communications and Publications disclosed this through a press release on Thursday (October 31), signed by Assistant Spokesperson and Director Saeda Khanam.
The press release mentioned that Bangladesh had agreed to take on the role of Chair Country for SAARCFINANCE at the 45th Governors’ Group Meeting held in Sri Lanka last June, following a request from the central bank governors of SAARC member countries.
Formed in 1998 in line with the resolution of the 10th SAARC Summit, SAARCFINANCE brings together central bank governors and finance secretaries from eight SAARC nations. Its primary aim is to foster the exchange of expertise and opinions among member countries on macroeconomic policies.
