Bangladesh not able to use climate fund

DHAKA: Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said Bangladesh is not fully capable to use the existing climate fund in fighting global warming.

Muhith was addressing a discussion on the progress of the country’s preparation in collecting the fund Wednesday morning at NEC Conference Room in city.

He said that the global fund will reach 200 billion by 2020. Bangladesh will get a portion from the amount as the country is one of the victims of climate change.

He said, “Though we have got funds for climate change, we are not fully capable in using the money.”

Economic Relations Division (ERD) senior secretary Mohammad Mesbahuddin Ahmed and Green Climate Fund (GCF) executive director Hela Cheikhrouhou were present among others at the discussion.
