Gold price hits record high in Bangladesh market

The price of gold in Bangladesh has reached a new record as the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced another price hike due to rising acid gold (pure gold) prices in the local market.

According to BAJUS, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has been increased by Tk 2,928, setting a new record at Tk 147,818. 

The pricing decision was made on Wednesday (February 5) in a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, followed by an official notice signed by committee chairman Masudur Rahman.

The new price will take effect from Thursday (February 6).

Earlier, on February 2, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori was Tk 144,890, which was also a record at the time. Before that, gold prices hit Tk 143,526 last year. 

The latest increase marks the fourth time gold prices have been raised in recent weeks.

Following the new pricing, 21-carat gold per bhori will cost Tk 141,099, up by Tk 2,799. The price of 18-carat gold has been raised by Tk 2,403 to Tk 120,944, while the traditional method gold price has gone up by Tk 2,053 to Tk 99,529.

However, the price of silver remains unchanged. 

The price of 22-carat silver per bhori is Tk 2,578, while 21-carat silver is Tk 2,449. The price for 18-carat silver is Tk 2,111, and for traditional silver, it is Tk 1,586.
