Bangladesh and Egypt have agreed to create a business forum aimed at enhancing trade and commerce ties by fostering greater private sector engagement.

This decision was made during the second Bilateral Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) held at Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo on Thursday.

The consultations covered a wide range of bilateral issues, including political, economic, trade, investment, agriculture, education, defence, and regional matters.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relations and discussed potential collaborations in agriculture, food security, education, and people-to-people connectivity.

Notably, Egypt expressed willingness to consider increasing scholarship opportunities for Bangladeshi students at Al Azhar University.

Additionally, the two nations agreed on measures to enhance tourism, sports, and cultural exchanges, as well as streamline visa procedures.

The delegations also addressed the ongoing Rohingya crisis, highlighting the need for continued international support for a sustainable solution. Both countries pledged to work together in multilateral forums like the United Nations, particularly in addressing climate change.

The third round of Bilateral Consultations is scheduled to take place in Dhaka in 2026.
