Banks cannot give dividends if defaults exceed 10%

Banks will not be allowed to distribute dividends if more than 10% of their total loans become defaulted, according to Bangladesh Bank.

Additionally, banks cannot give dividends if they fail to pay penalty interest or fines imposed due to shortfalls in cash reserves or statutory deposits.

Bangladesh Bank issued a circular on Thursday (March 14) regarding these restrictions.
