12kg LPG price reduced by Tk 29

The price of bottled liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for consumers has been reduced by Tk29 per 12kg cylinder for October, bringing the new price down to Tk1,241 from Tk1,270, according to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).

The new rate will come into effect from 6pm on Tuesday (October 7).

BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the revised prices at a press conference at the commission’s office in Dhaka around 3pm on Tuesday.

He said the adjustment was made based on the Saudi Contract Price (CP) for October, declared by Saudi Aramco—USD495 per metric ton for propane and USD475 per metric ton for butane.

Considering the average Saudi CP at USD482 per metric ton and the average exchange rate of Tk122.26 per USD, the consumer-level prices for private LPG and autogas have been readjusted accordingly.

As per the new tariff, the retail price of private LPG—including VAT—has been set at Tk103.40 per kg, making a 12kg cylinder cost Tk1,241 at the consumer level. Prices for other cylinder sizes ranging from 5.5kg to 45kg have also been adjusted proportionately.

For reticulated LPG systems, the price including VAT has been set at Tk99.65 per kg in liquid form, or Tk0.2214 per liter (gas form), equivalent to Tk221.40 per cubic meter.

Meanwhile, the consumer-level autogas price (used in motor vehicles) has been fixed at Tk56.77 per liter, including VAT.

The price of state-owned LPG, however, remains unchanged at Tk825 for a 12.5kg cylinder at the dealer and retailer level.

The revised prices will be effective across the country from 6pm today.
