Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on Saturday raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,193 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new price at Tk 1,74,528.
BAJUS said the price was adjusted following a rise in the cost of acid gold in the local market. The new rates will take effect from Sunday, June 15.
The decision was made at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.
A press release signed by the committee’s chairman Masudur Rahman confirmed the new pricing.
On June 5, the price of 22-carat gold was raised by Tk 2,414 to Tk 1,72,335 per bhori. Gold prices have now been increased 24 times in the last four and a half months.
According to the revised prices, one bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk 1,66,597, up by Tk 2,100, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 1,42,802, up by Tk 1,808. Traditional method gold will be sold at Tk 1,18,168 per bhori, up by Tk 1,528.
However, the price of silver remains unchanged. The rate of 22-carat silver is Tk 2,846 per bhori, 21-carat silver is Tk 2,718, 18-carat silver is Tk 2,333, and traditional method silver is priced at Tk 1,750.
