BHOLA: The drilling work of the third well in the Shahbajpur gas field was inaugurated in Borhanuddin upazila of the district on Friday noon.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed inaugurated the drilling around 12:30pm.

Shahbajpur Gas filed in-charge Shahdat Hossain said that the third well drilling will take three months to complete.

State minister for power Nasrul Hamid, Petrobangla Chairman Dr Hossain Monsur, Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (Bapex) Chairman Abdul Baki, Power Development Board (PDB) Chairman, Member of the parliament Ali Azam Mukul and Russian Ambassador in Dhaka Alexander A. Nikolaev among others were present in the inauguration programme. 

Bhola Deputy Commissioner Selim Reza confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The Shahbajpur gas field was revealed in 1995 and started supplying gas to Bhola 34.5-megawatt rental power plant in 2010.
