DHAKA: Zara Jabeen Mahbub has been appointed as the Head of Communication & Service Quality at BRAC Bank.

Ms. Zara Jabeen Mahbub joined BRAC Bank Limited (BBL) on March 23, 2009. She has 19 years of multifaceted work experience in various industries in both Bangladesh and the US while working primarily in strategic marketing.

Zara obtained her BBA from North South University (NSU), Dhaka with a concentration in Marketing and International Business. She later earned her MBA from The University of California Berkeley’s Haas School of Business focusing on Strategic Marketing and Non-profits.

While as an undergraduate student at NSU, Zara began her career in 1996 in the ready-made garments (RMG) and textile industries in Bangladesh as she took over her family business.

Upon graduating in 1998 she joined the IT consulting firm iQuest Consultants Inc. at its Detroit, Michigan office where she worked as a web developer and later as a corporate sales manager.

In 2002 she joined Vision Manufacturing Inc. (VMI), an electronic manufacturing company, in San Diego, California, as its Marketing Manager where she managed the regional customer base generating 60% of VMI’s annual revenue. In 2005 she founded Jamdani Inc., a handicraft company that catered Bangladeshi handicraft products to the US market.

Upon completing her MBA from Haas, she moved to Bangladesh in 2009 and joined BRAC Bank where she has since served as the Heads of Service Quality, Premium Banking, Retail Marketing, Call Center and Customer Experience. Now as a member of BBL’s Executive (Management) Committee, Zara's current responsibilities include External Affairs, Marketing, CSR and Service Quality.

 Zara is married with two daughters.
