Bourses witness loss Sunday

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – witnessed loss in share price indices on Sunday (October 9), the first trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 25.09 points or 0.53 percent to stand at 4698.63 points at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 121,003 with transaction at over Tk 5592.91 million. Of the issues traded, 83 advanced, 202 declined and 39 remained unchanged.

Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 578.35 million having changed hands on the day.

Other toppers of the market were Singer Bangladesh Limited, Singer Bangladesh Limited, BSRM Steels Limited, MJL Bangladesh Limited, National Bank Ltd., Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Argon Denims Limited, The ACME Laboratories Limited, United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd and Social Islami Bank Limited.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, lost over 42.51 points to stand at 8792.57 points on the day.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 69 gained, 152 declined and 19 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 442.57 million.
