DHAKA: Bangladesh and Nepal are agreed to set up two hydro-electricity plants capable to produce 1,500 megawatts.

Bangladesh commerce minister Tofail Ahmed and his Nepalese counterpart Romi Gauchan Thakali made the disclosure after a meeting at ministry conference room at secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday (October 16).

Tofail Ahmed said both the countries agreed to establish the plants along with Indian cooperation.

Primarily, the produced power would be transported through India.

It is also expected that after setting up the Khulna-Mongla rail line within 2018, trade will be enhanced through the railway service between Bangladesh and Nepal.

Romi Gauchan Thakali stated that the trade relations between the two neighboring countries would be heightened through the project.

He also asked for softening the processes of traveling including on arrival visa for Nepalese traveler by road.
