DHAKA: The per capita income came down to 1,465 US dollars decreasing $1 within last eight months.

Moreover, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of the country has increased during the period.

Planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal disclosed the matter at a press briefing at NEC conference room Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in city.

Upholding the data conducted by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the planning minister said, eight months ago, per capita income was estimated at 1,466 US dollars which was 1 dollar higher than today’s estimation.

But the rate of dollar has increased since then. So, it can not be said that people’s income has decreased, he added.

Earlier in a meeting of Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), held at prime minister’s office, the planning minister informed Prime minister Sheikh Hasina that GDP growth in the current fiscal year is 7.11 percent.

The primary estimation was 7.05 percent, but later it has increased, he opined.

According to Mustafa Kamal, this is the first time GDP growth has crossed the line of 7 percent in the country’s history.
