DHAKA:  State Minister for Finance & Planning MA Mannan said the allegations of mishandling the gold under the authorization of Bangladesh Bank not true in a whole. 

“No such imbalance was made to the extent as published in the news. It was little, if happened though,” he said.

The minister blames ‘bureaucratic negligence’ for the ‘little disparity’.

MA Mannan was talking to the reporters, after holding an urgent meeting at his office in the secretariat Wednesday (July 18). 

“We are investigating the matter. More observations will be made. Action will be taken, for sure, if anyone had negligence regarding this,” he added. 

BB Governor Fazle Kabir, NBR member Kaliprad, Finance ministry’s banking section Senior Secretary Yunusur Rahman, Additional Secretary Fazlur Rahman and VAT Intelligence department Director General Shahidul Islam attended the meeting.
