DHAKA: Country's stock market continued its gaining streak for the second day on Wednesday (Dec 19) amid improved participation of investors.

DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, rose over 8.96 points only to stand at 5,242.56 at the close of day’s trading.  

Trade deals stood at 111,442 with volume of transactions at Tk 3979.34 million.

Of the issues traded, 209 advanced, 78 declined and 54 remained unchanged.

Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 156.94 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were United Power Generations and Distribution Company Ltd, BRAC Bank Ltd, JMI Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd, IFAD Autos Limited, Intech Limited, Meghna Life Insurance Co Ltd, Khulna Power Company Ltd, Daffodil Computers Ltd and Far East Islami Life Insurance Co Ltd.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing up to 16,047.46 by gaining over 0.23 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 147 gained, 65 declined and 38 remained unchanged.
