DHAKA: Share price index in the country’s twin bourses — Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) — gained at close on Wednesday (January 2). 

The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 31.18 points or 0.57 percent to reach 5,496.43 at the close of day’s trading.

Of the 345 issues traded, 225 gained, 80 declined and 40 remained unchanged. 

Shares worth Tk 6,964.57 million changed hands at the DSE on the day against Tk 5301.74 million on Wednesday. 

During the day’s trading at the DSE, BBS Cables, Paramount Textile, IFAD Autos, Saiham Cotton Mills, Bangladesh Export Import Company, Khulna Power Company performed well. 

The day’s top 10 gainers at the DSE were QUASEMIND, UNITEDINS, AZIZPIPES, SAIHAMTEX, MONNOCERA, CONTININS, NHFIL    , JMISMDL, SILVAPHL and EBL1STMF.

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also gained 133.18 points to reach 16,863.99 at the close today. 

Of the 259 issues traded, 181 advanced, 52 suffered loss and 26 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 302.90 million on Wednesday.
