 DSE, CSE end week in red

DHAKA: The share price index at the country's both bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – completed the week in red on Thursday (Jan 17).

DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, shed over 13.91 points or 0.23 percent to reach 5,825.57 at the close of the day’s trading.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 12.91 points or 0.97 percent to close at 1,309.80.

The DS30 comprising blue chips went down by 7.78 points or 0.38 percent to close at 2,009.48 points. 

Of the issues traded, 118 gained, 196 declined and 32 remained unchanged.
 
The DSE turnover reached Tk 10115.68 million changed hands. 

S.S Steel Limited topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 381.77 million followed by KPCL, UNITEDFIN, ACTIVEFINE, JMISMDL, SANDHANINS, FASFIN, SONARBAINS, BRACBANK and OLIMPIC.

The day’s top five gainers at the DSE were BAYLEASING, SONARBAINS, PREMIERLEA, SANDHANINS and EASTERNINS while top five losers at the main bourse were IMAMBUTTON, SAVAREFR, MEGCONMILK, MEGHNAPET and SHYAMPSUG.
 
The CSE overall share index, CASPI, also went down by 0.23 percent to reach 17,858 at the close today.

Of the 277 issues traded, 98 advanced, 156 suffered loss and 23 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 499.26 million on Thursday.
