DHAKA: Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved a project for constructing 1,148 flats for cleaners of Dhaka City Corporations.
The approval came ECNEC meeting Tuesday at NEC conference room at capital’s Sher-e-Banglanagar with Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Planning Division Secretary Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam made the disclosure after the meeting.
Shafiqul Islam said that ECNEC approved a total of 12 development projects, including the flat construction scheme involving Tk 10,922 crore.
He added: “Of the total cost of Tk 10,922 crore, the government will provide Tk 5,838 crore from the national exchequer while the remaining Tk 5,084 crore will come as project assistance.”
Under the project “Construction of cleaners’ colony of Dhaka City Corporations”, as many as 13 ten-storied buildings would be constructed to accommodate the flats having an area of 472 sq ft each.
Ten out of these 13 buildings would be constructed at Dhalpur and Dayaganj while the remaining three at Sutrapur at a cost of Tk 190 crore.
