Three students of Dhaka University's Arabic Department went to Madinah to perform holy Umrah at the invitation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Saudi Government.
They are Ezazul Hoque, Mohammad Rois Uddin from Masters and Hamida Islam from Honours 3rd year of Arabic Department. Dr Zubair Muhammad Ehsanul Haque, Chairman of the department, confirmed it.
30 people from Bangladesh including them received the invitation as part of the program titled ‘The Guests of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Program for Hajj, Umrah, and Visit’. 1000 Islamic thinkers, professionals, students worldwide were given the opportunity to perform Umrah royally under this project by the Saudi government.
Ejazul Haque, a master's student of DU Arabic Department, who participated in the Umrah program, said, 'I feel lucky to have received this royal invitation from the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka through the Chairman of the Arabic Department.”
“I am proud to represent Bangladesh and Dhaka University in this international program of Saudi Arabia. Visiting the two holy cities, performing the holy Umrah and visiting the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) Rawdah is like a dream for me,” he added.
Dr Zubair Muhammad Ehsanul Haque, Chairman of the department, said, “the ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Dhaka, Issa bin Youssef Al-Duhailan, is a great person. He started a new era of relationship between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.”
“In this Umrah program, along with other professionals, the student representatives of some of the best universities of the country including Dhaka University have proved his commitment to the new generation. We are delighted with the participation of our students in this,” he added.
