Govt cancels remaining HSC exams

The government has canceled the remaining Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations in response to students' demands.

Earlier in the day, a group of the HSC and its equivalent examinees staged a demonstration at the Bangladesh Secretariat, demanding acquittal from the examinations postponed due to the recent nationwide student movement.

During the demonstration, the agitating students said that the results of the HSC and its equivalent examinations should be based on the subjects already examined.

Besides, the results for the postponed subjects should be determined by mapping those to the subjects of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations.

The students also organised a demonstration in front of the Dhaka Education Board on Monday to press home their same demand.

A good number of students entered the Bangladesh Secretariat this noon and staged the demonstration of the Ministry of Education and chanted various slogans to realise their demands.

Meanwhile, the government has already deferred the examinations for more two weeks which was scheduled for 11 September.

The remaining examinations will follow a new format with only 50 % of the questions having to be answered instead of 100%.
