DHAKA: Russian ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Nikolaev inaugurated the summer seminar series organized by the Department of English and Humanities (DEH) at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on Sunday.  

DEH organized the seminar on the occasion of Alexander S Pushkin’s 215th birth anniversary and launched "Literature and Beyond" seminar series.    

The first of the four-part seminar, titled ‘Literature and Beyond’ was dedicated to the Great Russian poet of the golden era Alexander Pushkin. 

Pushkin’s birthday was recognized as the UN Russian Language Day, a decision taken on the eve of International Mother Language Day in 2006.   

The seminar was enhanced by an exhibition of photographs and illustrations of Pushkin’s life and works, put up jointly by the Russian Cultural Center and DEH. 

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Prof Kaiser Haq, Head of DEH, Alexander Demin, the Head of Representative of Russian Cultural Center Dhaka and Prof Imran Rahman, the vice-chancellor of ULAB.
