New commission to recruit teachers

DHAKA: The government has taken initiative to form a non-government commission in the shape of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) to bring transparency in appointing teachers at private educational institutes.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid made the disclosure in a conference with the deputy commissioners at secretariat on Tuesday.

Minister mentioned that deputy commissioners claimed that the recruiting process of teachers in private educational institutes is not being performed properly.

Nahid further said that “No one will be recruited without a certificate from Non-Government Teachers' Registration & Certification Authority (NTRCA).”

A new commission is being formed in the model of BPSC which will carry out the process in upcoming days, he added.

He also said that training is being given to recruit teachers in a fair manner.

“MPs will be allowed to be president in maximum four educational institutes and local interference will be halted as well”, he added.

Nurul Islam Nahid also said that the Additional Deputy Commissioners (Education) will be the chief of the new comities in every district for the sake of better education.

The minister also stated new initiatives including free book allocation and setting up libraries will be helpful in root level education.

He also sought all kinds of assistances from the deputy commissioners.
