RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY: Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) activists of Rajshahi University (RU) unit beat the acting chief engineer of RU over extortion on Thursday.

Sources said general secretary of BCL Tawhid-al-Tuhin demanded extortion from acting chief engineer Sirajum Munir for holding BCL rally in Suhrawardy Udyan on August 31. 

Later, the activists beat Munir when he refused to give money.

When contracted with Munir, he did not agree to comment about the matter.

Tuhin told banglanews: “We obediently went to the acting chief engineer, but he insulted Bangabandhu and me. Being exited the activists beat him.”

Professor Muhammad Mizan Uddin said, “Stern action will be taken after looking into matter.”
