DHAKA: A Freshers' reception was held at the department of Communication and Media Studies (CMS) at University of Development Alternative (UODA) at its Dhanmondi campus in the city on Wednesday morning.

Founder and President of UODA Professor Mujib Khan, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Emajuddin Ahamed, Vice-President Dalia Nahid Khan, Registrar Dr Iffat Chowdhury and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr Ahmadullah Mia attended the function.

Addressing the program, Professor Emajuddin said, “The students have to be bilingual. They have to practice always to speak and write in English correctly as well as Bengali.”

The veteran political scientist and educator also said, “The students have to be sincere to gather knowledge for the betterment of their future.”

With Professor Dr Ahmadullah Mia in the chair, program was attended, among others, by Director of UODA Khwaja Zia, Deputy Registrars Munir Ahmed, Hayder Faruque and Fayjun Nahar, Coordinator M Mahbub Alam and Coordinator (Administration) Dr Mofidul Alam Khan, Assistant Professor Nur Mahal Sharmin, Assistant Professor Imran Hasan, Senior Lecturer Soma Deb, Lecturers Monira Shormin, Mohammad Yeasin, Farzana Yesmin and Shahinul Haque.

Reazaul Hannan, student of the 29th batch, moderated the function. The students of different batches were also present on the occasion.

In the second session of the function, a colorful cultural event was taken place with the participation of the students of the department.
