RAJSHAHI: The boycott of classes and examinations of Rajshahi University continued for the third day as the university’s teachers association called a program protesting the killing of Sociology Department teacher AKM Shafiul Islam.

The university’s Sociology Department organized a human chain program on Paris Road on the campus Tuesday morning demanding the punishment of the killing.

RU Pro-VC Professor Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury and teachers’ association president Qamrul Hasan Majumdar, among others, spoke at the program.

Expressing their discontent, the speakers said that there is no progress in arresting the miscreants though two days passed of the association declared 15-day ultimatum.

They also threatened to declare tougher movements if the criminals are not arrested by rest of the days.

After the program, students of the department also brought out a procession on the campus.

However, the university administration is keeping the admission test of honors first year for academic session 2014-15 uninterrupted.
