RTI should be inserted in syllabus : CIC

DHAKA: Chief Information Commissioner Muhammad Zamir Monday urged the government to include an article on right to information (RTI) in the syllabus for creating awareness among the students about it.

“We’ve already submitted a proposal to the Education Minister to insert it at Secondary and Higher Secondary level and he has given us positive signal to consider the proposal," said Zamir at a programme here on Monday.

Swiss Foundation organized the national sharing event on Right to Information Training Modules at the Spectra Convention Centre here with its Delegate Felix Bachmann in the chair.

The Chief Information Commissioner expressed his believe that the government would take necessary initiative soon in this regard.
 
He also called upon mass media, local and international non-government organizations to assist Bangladesh with their skill and financial support in building mass awareness.

Zamir said disseminating information among the people can play a vital role in establishing good governance in the country.

Swiss Ambassador Dr Urs Harren, Country Director of Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Jennet Durno, Professor Akter Hossain also spoke at the function.
