Bangladesh’s experience in education noteworthy

DHAKA: Irina Bokova, director general of UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), said all underdeveloped countries can use the experience of Bangladesh to ensure education for all.

The DG of the United Nations agency came up with the remark at the 196th meeting of the Executive Board of UNESCO in Paris on 14 April.

Appraising highly the Bangladesh's success in education, the UNESCO DG said, “All countries that are lagging behind in achieving the targets of ‘education for all’ can utilize the example-setting experiences of Bangladesh for overall development in education sector”.

Irina Bokova lauded commitment and contribution of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the development of education.

She also highlighted the incumbent government's political will and commitment for the success in country’s education sector.

The current session of UNESCO's Executive Board started on April 13 and will continue till April 23.

Public Administration department senior secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury is representing Bangladesh at the session of UNESCO. Bangladesh delegation includes M Shaheedul Islam, Manzur Hussain, Mohammad Hazrat Ali Khan and Farhana Ahmed Chowdhury.
