2 BUET students punished for ‘militant link’

DHAKA: The hall administration of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) expelled two students from dormitory for their alleged involvement in militancy.

The expelled students are Abu Barakat M Rafikul Hasan (room no 2007) and Mohammad Nuruddin (extension-2).

Regarding the matter, provost of Sher-e-Bangla hall professor Dr M Masud Karim told banglanews that different types of jihadi books and documents in their laptops were found during search at their rooms.

They might have a link with militancy. So, they have been temporarily expelled from the hall, he added.

But university disciplinary committee will take final decision about them, said the provost.

He further said that a investigation committee will be formed after return of vice-chancellor Dr Khaleda Ikram from abroad.

BUET unit Chhatra League president Shubhra Jyoti Tikader claimed that they have provided information to hall administration about the duo.
