DHAKA: Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid categorically said that the problems of public university teachers will be solved soon.

He made his assertion to the media after a meeting with Bangladesh University Teachers Association leaders at his Minto Road official residence in city on Saturday.

He said they had discussed on education and overall situation of the universities.

‘The government has given importance on the proposals of the teachers. A committee has been formed to solve the problems.’

Earlier on September 7, cabinet approved 8th pay scale that created criticism among the public university teachers. Later, government reformed the national committee to scrutinize the salary discrimination.

But the teachers expressed their disagreement to the finance minister as the chief of the committee.

The education minister commented that it was a subject to discuss.
