DHAKA UNIVERSITY: The 50th Convocation of Dhaka University (DU), the biggest program to confer degrees, began in a festive manner through a procession of around 18,000 students Saturday morning (March 4).

The procession started from Curzon Hall premises at 11:25am. Later, the main function began at central play ground of the university at 11:30 am, reports Banglanews correspondent.

President and chancellor of the university Abdul Hamid inaugurated the program.

Convocation speaker Bangladesh-born Canada Western University president and vice-chancellor Professor Amit Chakma was also present here.

Professor Amit Chakma will be conferred honorary Doctor of Science.

DU VC Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, pro-VC (education) Prof Dr. Nasrin Ahmed, pro-VC (admin) Prof Sr Akhtaruzzaman, acting registrar Enamuzzaman and deans were also present in the program.
