DHAKA: The left-leaning student organizations are observing strike in Dhaka University protesting the attack of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League.

The activists of Progressive Students’ Alliance in the morning on Monday (January 29) took position in the main gate of Arts Building and put the gate under lock and key.

The agitators said that they would continue the movement unit their demands are met.

Progressive Students’ Alliance called the countrywide strike following the BCL’s attack.

Some 30 students were injured as the BCL leaders and activists attacked the DU students who had besieged the DU vice-chancellor last week. They besieged the VC to press home their demands, including the DUCSU polls and immediate punishment of the BCL men involved in attack on students on January 15.
