BRAHMANBARIA: Police arrested headmaster of a high school on charge of canning a student that damages his eye in Nabinagar upazila.

Rafikul Islam, headmaster of Bidyakut Amar Bahumukhi High School, was picked up from railway station in the district town on Wednesday (May 8) afternoon, said Md Selim Uddin, officer in charge of Sadar Police Station.

Accused teacher will be produced before the court shortly, the OC added. 

According to case statement, part-time teacher Md Jabed Miah canned Rifat Mia, son of Sizil Miah, for unable to give day’s lesson in class on April 10. 

Rifat suffered injuries in his left eye and later, has been admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital. Doctors here referred him to Dhaka for better treatment. 

Then, father of the victim filed a case with Nabinagar Police Station accusing part-time teacher Md Jabed Miah, headmaster Rafikul Islam and managing committee president Shafiqul Islam in this connection.
