BSFMSTU to become a research-oriented university: VC BSFMSTU VC speaking to reporter

With an aim to mould new generation into science & technology-oriented one, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Science & Technology University (BSFMSTU) was set up in Jamalpur which is a neglected corner of the country.

On November 20 of 2018, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Science & Technology University act-2017 was passed in parliament.

On November 2 of 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid foundation stones of BSFMSTU on her trip to Mymensingh.

On November 14 of the last year, President M Abdul Hamid as well as Chancellor of the university appointed imminent educationist professor Dr. Sayed Samsuddin Ahmed as the first Vice Chancellor of BSFMSTU.

Prior to BSFMSTU, Dr. Sayed Samsuddin had been working as a senior Professor of Department of Geology and Mining at Rajshahi University (RU).

Dr. Sayed Samsuddin has long-held experience in university administration. Apart from being the chairman of his department, he was a member of RU university senate and syndicate.

Initially, 136 students took admission, enrolling in four subjects under four faculties of the university.

The departments are as follows: Mathematics, under the Faculty of Science, management, under the faculty of Business Administration, Social Work, under the Faculty of Social Science and Computer Science and Engineering, under the Faculty of Engineering.

In the current academic session, class of the 1st year began on April 18. Orientation program went off amid colorful program.

Dr. Sayed Samsuddin said 9 faculties are mentioned in university organogram, departments including engineering, as appropriate of the era, will be set up in phases.
