Dengue: 10 dead, 2,584 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least ten dengue patients died while 2,584 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 1), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,131 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,453 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 261 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,869 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,395 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 54,416 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 30,311 were in Dhaka and 24,085 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 42,195 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 25,257 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 19,634 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
