Dengue: 10 dead, 1,984 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 10 dengue patients died while 1,984 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 15), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 741 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,253 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 426 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,010 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,107 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 89,875 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 44,396 were in Dhaka and 45,479 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 80,332 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 40,063 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 40,269 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
