Dengue: 11 dead, 2,782 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 11 dengue patients died while 2,782 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 5), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 951 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,831 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 657 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,049 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,083 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 35,916 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 62,440 were in Dhaka and 73,476 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 26,127 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 57,915 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 68,212 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
