Dengue: 20 dead, 2,689 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 20 dengue patients died while 2,689 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 7), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 899 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,790 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 691 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,151 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,569 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 49,711 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 64,172 were in Dhaka and 76,539 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 30,309 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 59,524 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 70,785 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
