Bangladesh records 24 new dengue cases, no deaths in a day

At least 24 people were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (January 23), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death toll remained unchanged with no fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the 24-hour count to Tuesday morning, said the DGHS release.

In the 24 hours, seven dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 17 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, it added.

Besides, this year a total of 14 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 907 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 317 were in Dhaka and 590 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 750 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 261 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 489 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 48 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 95 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
