Bangladesh records 20 new dengue cases in 24-hour

Hospitals in Bangladesh have recorded 20 new cases of dengue fever in 24 hours till 8 am today (March 18), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death toll remained unchanged with no fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the 24-hour count to Monday morning, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year, a total of 16 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 1,566 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of the new cases, seven were reported in the capital and 13 others were it.

A total of 66 patients were undergoing treatment at the different hospitals throughout the country, the DGHS data said.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
