Dengue: Two die, 326 new cases in 24-hour

Bangladesh reported two more deaths from dengue and 326 new infections in the last 24 hours, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A press release in this regard was issued on Wednesday (June 25) by DGHS.

According to data outside Dhaka, Barishal recorded the highest number of new patients with 118 cases, followed by 43 each in Chattogram and Dhaka divisions. In the capital, 45 new patients were admitted in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation and 26 in Dhaka North. Meanwhile, 29 new cases were reported from Rajshahi, 16 from Khulna, and one from Sylhet.

Among the newly discharged, 319 dengue patients left hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours. So far this year, 7,749 people have recovered after receiving hospital treatment.

As of June 25, a total of 8,870 dengue cases have been reported in 2025. Of them, 58.7% are male and 41.3% female.

The latest fatalities raise this year’s death toll from dengue to 36. Of the two most recent deaths, one occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation and the other in Rajshahi.

Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths in 2024, while in 2023 the country witnessed 321,179 cases and 1,705 deaths—the deadliest year on record for the mosquito-borne disease.
