432 new dengue cases recorded in 24 hours

Health authorities today reported 432 fresh cases of dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, raising concerns as the mosquito-borne disease continues to spread.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the new cases, 86 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division, 70 in Chattogram, 68 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 90 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas, 52 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 30 in Mymensingh, 31 in Rajshahi, and five in Sylhet division.

With the latest figures, the total number of dengue cases this year has climbed to 30,376, while the death toll stands at 118.

Last year, Bangladesh witnessed the worst outbreak on record, with 575 deaths and 101,214 reported cases of the disease.
