DHAKA: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Sunday said some 6,000 physicians would be appointed within the next two months.

He also said a total of 40 specialized hospitals would be set up for the children of the county.

The health minister came up with the assertion while addressing the two-day long inaugural session of the 18th biannual conference of Bangladesh Pediatrics Association (BPA) and 1st conference of South Asia Pediatric Association (SAPA) at a city hotel.

Nasim also claimed that the number of hospital for the children in the country is poor--one in Dhaka but that is autonomous. “Few days ago, I inaugurated such a special hospital for newborns and very soon more 40 alike that will be launched,” he said.

He further mentioned that there are about 6000 health complexes across the country.

Through special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), within the next two months, a physician would be appointed in each health complex, he added.
