DHAKA: The government has appointed Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam as the director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGSH).

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued an order in this regard on Thursday (July 23). 

Khurshid Alam was a professor at the surgery department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Earlier today, the government issued a gazette notification canceling the contractual appointment of Abul Kalam Azad effective from July 21, a day after President Hamid accepted his resignation.

Azad submitted his resignation to the public administration ministry on Tuesday (July 21) amid widespread criticism over corruption in the health sector and scams related to Covid-19 tests.
