India's coronavirus tally on Sunday crossed the 70-lakh mark with a spike of 74,383 new cases and 918 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

The total case tally stands at 70,53,807 including 8,67,496 active cases, 60,77,977 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 1,08,334 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry.

On Saturday, India reported a spike of 73,272 new Covid-19 cases and 926 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and 40 lakh on September 5. It went past 50 lakh on September 16 and crossed 60 lakh on September 28.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative 8,57,98,698 samples have been tested up to October 9. As many as 11,64,018 samples were tested on Friday.
