Israeli air and ground operations in the Gaza Strip killed at least 44 Palestinians on Saturday morning, according to health officials in the enclave.

The dead included members of a family in the Nuseirat refugee camp after a strike on their home.

The attacks come as Israeli forces press ahead with their ground offensive in Gaza’s largest city, where hundreds of thousands of residents remain trapped with limited access to food, water and shelter.

Addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue military operations, pledging to “finish the job.”

Gaza’s health authorities say at least 65,549 people have been killed and 167,518 wounded since Israel began its campaign in October 2023, following Hamas-led attacks that killed 1,139 people in Israel and saw around 200 others taken captive.

Thousands of Palestinians are still believed to be buried beneath rubble.
