DHAKA: A court in Egypt has dissolved the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing.
The government of president Abdul Fattah al-Sisi has cracked down harshly on the Islamist movement and other opponents over the past year.
Last July, Sisi, then head of the military, ousted president Mohammed Mursi, a former leader of the FJP, following mass protests.
The Brotherhood was declared a terrorist group in December, reports the BBC.
