KSA grand mufti urges Muslims to be united

RIYADH: Saudi Grand Mufti Abdul-Aziz Ibn Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh on Arafat Day on Friday stressed upon the unity of Muslims to save Ummah around the world.

He made the plea at Arafat in western Saudi Arabia while presenting Hajj’s Khutbah.

Saudi Grand Mufti, however, also asked Muslims to resolve disputes between different segments of the followers of Islam.

Sources said that more than two million Muslim pilgrims from around the world ascended Mount Arafat this year at the climax of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

They came here from Mina just after the Fajr prayers, sources added.

Pilgrims, according to the sources, clad in seamless white clothes, spent the day in prayers and recitation of the Holy Quran as it’s a must in the hajj.

Nevertheless, the pilgrims will return to Mina Valley outside Macca after spending the night in the Muzdalifah area en route from Mount Arafat to Mina.

In Mina, pilgrims will take part in the symbolic stoning towards devil at Jamrat al-Aqaba and sacrifice animals as a part of hajj customs.

The Hajj is the “fifth pillar” of Islamic faith, one that must be performed by Muslims – if financially viable – at least once in a lifetime.
